We felt a little left out with everyone talking about conserving and saving money and gas so here it goes.
Yes it is true that having your oil changed, air filter replaced frequently and even having adequate air in your tires could save you a lot of gas being burned and chugged by your vehicles. But there is one very important and critical thing you must do. It is the most important of all techniques for reducing your gas consumption daily.
“Changing the Way You Drive” is the most important technique for saving gas consumption. Here are some Dos and Don’ts in driving in these times of soaring gas prices.
DONT’s
Do not brake suddenly and quickly
Do not speed over the limit
You might beat the cops but over a year, you could be spending at least double what you normally spend if you drove within the limit
Do not leave your car on unnecessarily during errands
We know that feeling when you want to return to the car and have the A/C still on instead of burning hot inside the car
Do not accelerate downhill, let the car roll and pick up when going back uphill
Imagine the amount of gas you would save every month while you do little things like this.
DOs
Combine all trips and errands in one trip in order to avoid multiple daily trips
Buy gas mostly at evenings when the sun and heat is at a minimum
It avoids high rate of evaporation of gas being purchased
Let go of the accelerator as you approach red lights and let the car roll up to the lights
Just think about how many red lights you go through daily and over a year and imagine saving that little acceleration of gas annually
Empty your trunk
Millions of people have tens to hundreds of pounds of unwanted and not too frequently used items in their trunk all year round. You burn more gas when your car is just 20 pounds heavier. Thats an extra book bag with 3 textbooks. The more pounds, the more money at the pump!
Drive few long trips compared to multiple short trips.
Bottom Line: CHANGE THE WAY YOU DRIVE DAILY and you would save so much more at the pump!
